మింగ మెతుకు లేదు, మీసాలకి సంపంగె నూనే

minga metuku ledu, meesala ki sampenga noonè

Translation: There is not even a single grain to eat, but one wants fine floral essence to oil one's mustache 

Application: When there isn't enough to meet one's needs, but one dreames to/spends on luxuries

Explanation:

'Sampenga' is a highly fragrant rare flower. One can only imagine how expensive its essential oil would be! There is a man who doesn't have enough to eat in his house, he can't afford to feed himself properly. However, he wishes to purchase Sampenga oil to massage on his mustache. So what little he earns will be wastefully spent on this expensive habit instead of fending for necessities. Moreover, it is just a dream, he might not even afford such an expensive oil. 

Dondu dondé

Dondou dondé

Translation: Same to same, Matching. (spoken with a lisp, while intending to say "Rendu rendé")

Application: If two people or situations are such that they seem to be made for each other (in a sarcastic sense) in that they complement & outrun each other's faults!  

Explanation:

A just-married couple were travelling in a bullock cart. Both bride and groom had a speech disability, they had a bad lisp. Both their parents thought they had been very clever in not disclosing this fault in their child before the marriage. But lo behold, when the couple spoke to each other, the bullock cart driver discovered that both of them spoke with a lisp! Look at destiny, how they were matched, really made for each other! As if that weren't enough, we realize that even the bullock cart driver speaks with a lisp!!! So he says, "Dondou dondé", instead of "Rendu rende". 

Tanté bourela gampa

తంతే బూరెల గంప లో పడ్డాడు అంట 

Tanté bourela gampa lo paDDadu anTa

Translation: It seems when he was kicked/pushed, he fell into a basket of puffed rice

Application: When something good is achieved even out of a supposedly bad event. 

Explanation: Somebody was beaten up and kicked. But when he fell, instead of suffering (from injuries, or falling into mud), he realized that he had fallen into a basket of puffed rice, it's like he unearthed a cache of puffed rice, so he made a gain. 

Shahar mein shadi/Ourulu pelli

शहर में शादी, अब्दुल्लाह दीवाना 

Shahar mein Shadi, Abdullah Deevana

Translation: There's a wedding in the city, Abdullah is hyper excited

ఊళ్ళో పెళ్లి, కుక్కలు హడావిడి 

Ourulo pelli, Kukkalu hadaavidi 

Translation: There's a wedding in the city, the dogs are really worked up

Application:

If someone is really excited or worked up over something which is not their business, or over something when the world doesn't care a damn. 

Explanation:

If someone is getting married in the city, Abdullah is a layman who may not even have been invited, but he is excited over nothing! Also, if there is a wedding in the town, the stray dogs of the town are really excited (though the humans won't even invite the dogs).

ఇష్త రాజ్యం, భరతుడి పట్నం

IshTha Raajyam, BharatuDi PaTnam

Translation: Everyone does what they want in Bharata's kingdom

Application: When everyone does what they please, following their own rules & procedures without clarity in organization/control or a central authority to answer to.

Explanation:
When Lord Rama was exiled to life in the forest (Vanavaas), his younger brother Bharata was ashamed of having wrongly inherited the throne, he was angry with his mother Kaikeyi who orchestrated the entire event, he too wanted to follow Rama into vanvaas. But at Lord Rama's behest, he reluctantly agreed to rule the kingdom in Rama's absence. However, full of grief, he placed Rama's sandals on the throne and spent his time repenting. It is said that God alone knows how the affairs of the State were conducted with a detached king who took little interest in ruling. So if things go haywire without any central command, people say it is like Bharata's kingdom.
